For discussion.
When mgrs of good teams withdraw or are replaced. what is the best way to replace them?
It can piss existing mgrs to see a new-to-the-league mgr get a better team.
So this idea:
When ownership of a team opens, it will be open for lottery bids.
Before it is offered to a new mgr, existing mgrs can offer their team up in exchange in a lottery.
The lottery winner would be decided by a random 3rd party site. (Toolbox).
Another lottery would then open if teams want to bid on the team then available.
Seems to me a better way to go than offering up a good team to someone off the boards we do not know.
Your thoughts guys?

I doubt many people would use it, you usually build your team the way you want.

I agree with Etienne that a new owner will want/try to build his team with the players he likes, but I also like the option of being able to bid on the team before it goes to a new owner if one chooses to do so.
Since we have such a great group of knowledgeable owners currently, in most cases managers probably won't bid on the owner less team, because we will have already built our current team with most of the players we want.
While we can't foresee what will happen for a manager to drop out, he would still be acquiring a good team regardless.

To Etienne:
Certainly .... I understand that.
You don't see this scenario happening, but I sure do .... and as LM I am the guy who has to find new mgrs..
Look, two days ago you described my team as 'stacked.'
So what if I was unable to continue and my team (River Rats) was available? Would you put your team up in a lottery to get it?
That is the question.
Should we replace teams with a 'lottery' option?

Maybe lottery could work. Actual owner could move from their own team in bidding for the new one.
I know how it's difficult to find reliable managers.
Classic case of a new owner who doesn't like is team. Where he will find his interest. Not all the managers want a complete rebuild.
It's difficult to project that when it's only potential but I can understand what Norm is doing.

No objections to this in any of the 3 leagues.
Bottom line is that somebody will replace a team mgr who leaves, so why not a mgr already in the league if he wants the team?
So this will be the policy:
When a team opens for a new mgr I will post the opening and other team mgrs will have 48 hrs to bid on it in a lottery, exchanging their team if they win.
If more than one mgr wants the team, we will use a 3rd party random order generator (Toolbox) to determine the winner.
We will repeat the process if more than one mgr wants the team that subsequently opens.
There will be some small print that we can massage as we see how it plays out. For starters: once the 48 hr lottery window is opened, you can't post a trade and also bid on the open team.
Should work fine.
